Considerations When Paddling With Others
If you have any questions regarding the required capabilities of any paddle on our PADDLE calendar, please ask one of our staff members or the member organising the paddle.
Please enquire well before the departure date so any additional training can take place prior to the scheduled departure.
We firmly believe every member can participate in every trip, given the right training, knowledge and support, so get behind one another and please don't hesitate to ask for help.
Please be mindful before deciding to join one of the paddling adventures with other group members that you have the necessary experience and skills to join such a trip.
These trips will be varied in skill level depending on variables like, location, duration, group numbers, weather and intended paddle plan.
These trips WILL NOT be accompanied by any Aussie Sea Kayak Company guides in a group leader’s role.
All individuals are responsible for their own preparation, equipment and skill level. No other paddlers should be expected to spend the trip duration acting as a surrogate trip leader.
Paddlers will need to communicate with each other before and during the intended trip. Study charts and currents to get an idea of what to expect on these days. Look out for other paddlers in the group; if there are varied capabilities on the day with paddler skill and speed make sure no paddler ever gets left behind or on their own. Match equivalent skill levels to others in the group for support and consistency.
We are not trying to scare people away but rather deliver a good dose of reality.
You are joining these trips of your own free will and therefore responsible for your own actions and capabilities.
If you want to join the more advanced trips but don't have the skill level, join us on one of our Intro or Advanced programs and get up to speed so you can tackle most paddles.
