This tour departs from Shute Harbor and the exhilaration of the open sea is immediate as we tackle the shorter of the two crossings on the first day. The highlight of the day is the crossing the Whitsunday Passage with the opportunity of seeing Humpback Whales on their yearly migration.
During this journey we will circumnavigate Whitsunday Island in a anticlockwise direction making use of the south east trade winds as we sail down the eastern shore of the island.
The kayaks allow us to access and camp at many isolated beaches. Stargazing in the evenings after a day on the water, a great meal and sunset, is an excellent way to wrap up a memorable day.
We explore the southern section of Whitsunday Island, paddling the inlets, coves and bays featuring numerous turtle sightings, close coastal paddling and magnificent campsites continuing on toward Whitehaven Beach for 2 nights of spectacular camping.
Apparently Whitehaven Beach is one of the most photographed beaches in the world! It’s easy to see why when you first set eyes on this magnificent stretch of brilliant white sand. Some great coral reef just out in front of our campsite for snorkeling, good fishing spots and oyster collecting. The perfect place to relax for a day.
