Noosa Everglades

Hidden within the Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park is one of the Sunshine Coast’s best kept paddling secrets, 'The Noosa Everglades'. Best explored by canoe or kayak, the upper reaches of the Noosa River and the Everglades represent an ancient waterway that has existed unchanged for thousands of years. The river winds it’s way south behind the massive sand dunes of the North Shore that protect this natural wonder from the power of the Pacific Ocean. The tannin coloured waters of the river offer the most outstanding reflections of the paperbarks, bloodwoods and cotton trees that overhang from the banks. Wildlife flourishes in this region of the river, freshwater Australian Bass use the submerged logs as cover, goannas patrol the banks, and the bird life is stunning. Many locations along the rivers edge have cultural significance and were used by the aboriginal people for ceremony and were sites of the first Timber Mills in the region.

This trip will have you mystified at every bend, and the calm waters are perfect for paddlers of all levels. This trip is ideal for anyone who needs a little time out and relaxation or simply loves being on calm, clear waters. You do need to be confident around water but paddling experience is not necessary. Your guides will show you how it’s done - whether you are a complete novice or working to improve your stroke and power!
